AT26 Design and the Art of Evolving the Porsche 993 with Rennlist members

AT26 Design and the Art of Evolving the Porsche 993 with Rennlist members

Some cars invite modification. The Porsche 993 demands something more subtle: restraint.

There is a particular moment when you look at a 993 from the front — the low nose, the wide-set headlights, the gentle sweep of the bonnet, the unmistakable shape of an air-cooled 911 — and realise how little needs to be changed.

The 993 was never designed to shout.

Its beauty comes from proportion, balance and restraint. That is why modifying one is such a delicate exercise. Add too little, and nothing changes. Add too much, and the original character disappears.

The art lies somewhere in between.

Not reinventing the 993. Refining it.

That philosophy became the starting point for AT26 Design’s one-piece front splitter project.

For years, owners on Rennlist had been discussing the same idea: a clean, full-width front spoiler that would give the Carrera a stronger stance without overwhelming the original design. The demand was there, but the right interpretation was still open to debate.

AT26 decided to explore the question from the ground up.

Two interpretations

Rather than creating a single solution, AT26 developed two distinct designs.

The first is deliberately restrained.

Its proportions follow the original Carrera philosophy, adding a subtle visual extension to the front of the car while keeping the character of the 993 intact.

The second takes a more expressive approach.

Influenced by the visual language of Porsche RS and Motorsport cars, it gives the front end a stronger presence while remaining unmistakably 993.

Two interpretations of the same idea.

One designed for the purist.

The other for the enthusiast who wants a little more attitude.

OEM lines as a design language

The splitter is manufactured from Interglas or kevlar and produced in-house in Europe

On a classic Porsche, this matters.

Designed with the community

The project also followed an increasingly important AT26 principle:

listen first, manufacture second.

The 993 splitter was introduced to the Porsche community through Rennlist, where years of discussion about one-piece solutions had already created a natural audience.

The response quickly moved beyond conversation.

The product was offered through successful Rennlist group-buy campaigns, turning an enthusiast forum discussion into a real production project.

For a specialist manufacturer, that kind of validation is particularly meaningful.

There is a difference between designing something that looks good in a rendering and creating something that Porsche owners are willing to put on their own cars.

Evolution, not reinvention

The best modifications rarely announce themselves.

They simply make the original design feel more resolved.

That is the philosophy behind the AT26 Design Porsche 993 one-piece carbon splitter.

It does not attempt to turn a Carrera into a GT2.

It does not disguise the character of the 993.

It takes one of the most recognisable shapes in Porsche history and adds a contemporary layer of craftsmanship, material and design.

Two designs. One-piece construction. Pre-preg carbon fibre.

A small change to the front of the car.

But, when the proportions are right, sometimes that is all a great design needs.
